At the July 2026 Meetup, Andrea presented a fascinating overview of tools and sewing supplies that can be purchased at places other than the local sewing store.
Andrea has kindly provided a resource sheet plus her presentation. Although the focus was stores in Calgary, Canada, several of these items can be found at retailers around North America, and in hardware or dollar stores around the world.
What were her sources? She started with the very generous global sewing YouTube community, then she personally spent a lot of time driving around the Calgary region and digging through local stores including: Rona Hardware, Dollarama, Dollar Tree, Princess Auto, Home Depot, Ikea, Bulk Barn, Uncle Weiners, and more!
Favourites for our group? The mini suction cup that provides stability to a quilting ruler (Princess Auto), and the back side of a flannel-backed tablecloth for figuring out quilt layouts.
Questions? Make a note in the form below and we will ask Andrea to provide an answer.
